Local writers & poets OPEN MIC

  • Ottawa Valley Coffee (OVC) Almonte 61 Mill Street Mississippi Mills, ON Canada (map)

We’re opening up the stage to you, our local writers, poets and storytellers!

Good times keep em coming back for more! Presented as part of the Lanark Lit Festival of Writing, ARW will present another wonderful OPEN MIC on Thursday, May 15th, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at OVC Almonte. We’re always super excited to welcome everyone back again for what is always a fantastic night of local stories, performances, and poetry!

Do you have a piece that's a work in progress? A polished story or poem? All work* is welcome. If you are interested in participating, there will be 5-minute slots available. Priority will be given in the order of those that sign up upon arrival.

If you are not a writer or not ready to read a piece aloud we warmly welcome listeners, too. Bring your friends and lend an ear.

* Ensure stories do not include anything that is racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, or graphically violent.

The 2025 Lanark Lit Festival of Writing is presented by Almonte Readers & Writers thanks to the generous funding support of Lanark County, the Municipality of Mississippi Mills, the Perth & District Community Foundation, and the Elizabeth Kelly Library Foundation, with community partnership from the Mississippi Mills Public Library, the Perth & District Public Library, Mill Street Books, Almonte Writers Guild, and with the community support of Equator Coffee, OVC Almonte, Jazzy’s Brewhaus and other local partners
